Can I add music to my Reels or posts?

Last updated on Sep 30, 2026

Short answer: not from Flomixy - and it isn't a missing Flomixy feature. Instagram doesn't allow it for any scheduling tool.

Why music isn't available

Instagram's music library - trending sounds and licensed tracks - lives inside the Instagram app only. When a scheduling tool publishes a post or Reel through Instagram's official publishing tools, Instagram does not allow attaching a track from that library. This is a licensing rule Meta applies to every third-party app, so no scheduler (Flomixy included) can add catalog music for you.

How to post with music anyway

You have two good options:

  1. Add the audio to your video before you upload it. Any music that is already part of the video file - added in your editing app - publishes normally through Flomixy. It shows up as original audio on the Reel. Just make sure you have the rights to use the track.
  2. Publish that specific Reel from the Instagram app. If you need a track straight from Instagram's music library for one particular Reel, create and post it directly in the Instagram app instead of scheduling it through Flomixy.

Good to know

  • This applies to Reels and video - that's where Instagram music lives. Image and carousel posts don't carry music at all.
  • Your own recorded sound, voice-over, or licensed music baked into the file always publishes fine.
